The Fal Oyster Travels to Slow Fish in Genoa. BBC Radio 4 Food Programme.

Slow Fish is a biennial event organised by Slow Food and which takes place in Genoa. The main purpose of Slow Fish is to find ways to protect small scale fishing communities; to promote sustainable methods of fishing and to preserve the distinctive and often ignored varieties of fish species. One of the many Slow Fish stories this year was that of the native Fal Oyster, caught using very traditional methods. I travelled to Genoa with fishermen Tim Vinnicombe, Rob Searle, Ben Wright, owner of the Duchy Oyster Farm, and Katy Davidson, leader of Slow Food Cornwall. Their story was told this week on BBC Radio 4’s Food Programme. You can listen to the programme here.
